Spring Cleaning!

So every spring, everyone gets in the mood to clean up their house, put away those tacky sweaters, and do some yard work. It’s also a great time to think about getting into the dental office for a teeth cleaning! Your teeth get dirty and a professional cleaning by Katie, our Hygienist, will get them back into tip-top shape just in time for summer! We do all types of cleanings here at the office of Dr. Edwin S Porter. We can do regular cleanings, periodontal cleanings, scaling and root planing, as well as cleanings for children. We love to get your teeth cleaned using our ultrasonic machine, which loosens all the plaque and calculus, and then we scale and polish your teeth. And we always recommend a professional fluoride varnish treatment for all of our patients because even adults need fluoride! So call us today to get in for your Spring Teeth Cleaning! What is Going in Your Mouth?

Here at the office of Dr. Edwin S Porter at the Arboretum in Charlotte, we only use the best of materials. When we make your crowns, onlays and other restorations at our office, you can rest assured that we use only the highest grade of materials available. Your new tooth will be made of e.max ceramic which has been tested to be the highest grade of ceramic on the market.

E.Max can be expected to demonstrate excellent clinical performance relative to chipping or fracture based on the findings of many studies and test performed by dental professionals and schools. That is why we use only the best! Your investment is just that….Something that will last a long time and will provide an excellent fix to whatever tooth or mouth problem that you may be having.

We can prep your tooth, mill you tooth, fire your tooth, and place your tooth all in one visit! You can watch TV or read a magazine while you wait for the magic to happen! No more being numb twice or drving back for a second delivery visit. And you can even watch your restoration being made throughout the whole process! And the fun thing about e.max restorations is that the tooth starts out as purple! You can watch it change into a tooth-colored restoration throughout the process!!

Gum Health and Your Heart

The effects of gum disease on the body are mostly seen affecting the heart and cardiovascular system. With gum disease present, the oral bacteria can attach themselves to the plaque that line the coronary arteries and then increase the plaque build-up in these arteries which are critical to heart function. They can also cause blood clots to form in the coronary arteries. That is why it is important to visit your dentist at least every six months so that we can check your gum health.
